Red River Valley Water Supply Project

The cosponsors of the Red River Valley Water Supply Project officially reaffirmed their cooperation agreement for the project by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May. The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District (Garrison Diversion) and Lake Agassiz Water Authority (LAWA) signed the Cooperation Agreement at their respective Board meetings in the spring of 2020.

“The signing of the Cooperation Agreement is significant because it solidifies in writing how Garrison Diversion and LAWA will continue to work together on planning and constructing the Red River Valley Water Supply Project,” says Merri Mooridian, Deputy Program Manager for RRVWSP Administration.

“LAWA’s purpose is to provide a reliable supply of drinking water to central and eastern North Dakota with a focus on the economic welfare of the people and the reliability of a high-quality water supply,” says Dr. Tim Mahoney, LAWA Board Chairman.

In 2013, Garrison Diversion and LAWA joined forces on the state and local RRVWSP.  Garrison Diversion represents the State of North Dakota and LAWA represents the Project’s local users.
